The site known as www.murduck.net began in 1994 as a collection of what are now known as ‘flat html pages’. Individual stories and presentations about various people known by the surname MURDUCK were wrapped within html code using a text editor, and uploaded to file space on a remote server. It was a tedious and time-consuming process, especially if one had only a slow ‘dial-up’ server connection.
As time passed, and more information was added, the flat-page site became unmanageable.
Consequently, after a period of dormancy, a move to the content management system (CMS) called WordPress was initiated in November, 2022.
And here we are today!
A sister site, www.murduck.one-name.net, is maintained as part of my ongoing membership with the Guild of One-Name Studies. You may find some identical information, some similar information, and some different information there.
This site is supported by and made possible through the good graces of www.family-historian.com.
Prior to March, 2021, the progenitors of this site were hosted on about four different servers. Today the site is hosted on <www.greengeeks.ca> a very responsive and ethical service provider. They’ve responded quickly and very satisfactorily whenever I’ve contacted them with a technical issue. I’ve been extremely happy with my time with them. You might be too.
